By Ina Keuper

The jury loves the variation of photographs and stories. They started out going through all the pictures without reading the stories. All pictures are interesting in one way or the other. Some are absolutely beautiful and perfect in their composition, colour, message and form. Yet the pictures that resonated the most, even without the story, are far from technically perfect.

We are very proud to announce that LOVA's first Edited Volume, based on a selected number of papers from the 2nd International Lova conference "Ethnographies of Gender and Conflict" has been published with Ashgate (London). The book is edited by Georg Frerks, Annelou Ypeij and Reinhilde König - and appeared in November 2014. It is now available online! To order visit our book's page at Ashgate.

Emeritus professor Annemiek Richters has written an excellent review of our book. She notes that "The book makes for a fascinating read, especially the chapters based on in-depth, ethnographic fieldwork and embedded in rich theoretical concepts and frameworks [...] I have been completely absorbed in this book, relating (parts of) each and every chapter - especially the theoretical framing of the themes presented - to my own work in the fields of gender, violence, conflict, psychosocial support and peace-building. This book is of high quality. LOVA can be proud of it!" You can find the full review here!
